The team.

There is a full team of Black women behind the events, the programmes and the opportunities you see at WCAN.

Most of us do this alongside full-time careers in law, finance, consulting and technology, which is also why we know what the women in our network are walking into.

Mariam Jimoh

Mariam Jimoh

Managing Director

Mariam has run WCAN for over a decade, from the first dinners to a network of 15,000. Previously in M&A at Rothschild & Co, named in Forbes 30 Under 30 Tech, and a founder several times over. She has been backing overlooked markets since before it was interesting.

Rachel Jimoh

Rachel Jimoh

Partnerships & Strategy Manager

Rachel builds WCAN's relationships with the firms that hire our members, and shapes where the organisation goes next. A future trainee solicitor at Travers Smith, previously in global investment research at Goldman Sachs, and a founder of a baking business, Yours Bakefully, alongside it. Powerlist Top 150 UK Future Leaders, 2022/23.

Bernice Ewetade

Bernice Ewetade

Mentorship Manager

Bernice connects the right people, keeps the conversations useful and makes sure everyone grows from the experience. By day she helps firms navigate financial regulation without losing sleep. She has always loved getting people access to new spaces, ideas and opportunities, and doing that for women who look like her is the part she enjoys most. Tennis keeps her sharp; books, films and art keep her inspired.

Selam

Selam

Mentorship Officer

Selam works alongside Bernice on the mentorship programme, keeping pairs matched and conversations moving. A recent mathematics graduate with two buyside internships in private credit and institutional investing, plus a year co-heading deal management at Queen Mary's Social Venture Fund. In her own words, she is good at defining ambiguous questions, understanding what people want, and building things that get used.

Martha Chisanga

Martha Chisanga

Events Manager

Martha plans and runs WCAN's events, from the first spreadsheet to the last guest leaving. Her day job is in private equity research. She is here because WCAN supports Black women of all ages in a way that lasts. Proudly Zambian, and particularly interested in work that connects the African diaspora with local communities.

Blessing Mukisa-Nsubuga

Blessing Mukisa-Nsubuga

Events Manager

Blessing runs WCAN events from plan to pack-down. Four years as an independent event coordinator before joining, with a background spanning corporate, community and education work.

Abisola Okegbola

Abisola Okegbola

Events Manager

Abisola works across WCAN's events programme and has been part of the network since 2024. An LLB law graduate, now an analyst at Delta Capita, with a vacation scheme at Gowling WLG behind her.

Muriel Tokam Maptue

Muriel Tokam Maptue

Campus Outreach Manager

Muriel is the first person a student hears from when they want to bring WCAN to their university, school or college, and the named contact for every chapter lead, ambassador and creator. Client relationship support at Candriam, with an MSc in Banking and Finance from King's College London.

Eugenia Adubofour

Eugenia Adubofour

Communications Manager

Eugenia leads how WCAN speaks to its network. A procurement manager at NHS England specialising in supplier management and cost optimisation, working across healthcare and financial services.

Tawana Mukasa

Tawana Mukasa

Communications Officer

Tawana works across WCAN's communications, keeping the network informed about what is open and what is coming. A graduate associate at LSEG, currently on rotation with the alternatives team in private markets at FTSE Russell, and one of 86 chosen from 800 applicants for the Patchwork Foundation's masterclass programme.

Ayo Mohammed

Ayo Mohammed

Communications Officer

Ayo works across WCAN's communications, helping opportunities reach the women who need them.

Lola Suara

Lola Suara

Social Media Manager

Lola makes the content that carries WCAN's community: amplifying opportunities, telling members' stories and giving the network somewhere to gather between events. A law graduate who works where creativity meets strategy. She is here to celebrate Black women and build a place where they feel seen. Outside WCAN, that instinct goes into art, cooking and making things.
